Glenn Maxwell reclaims IPL duck record during match against Gujarat Titans

Star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was dismissed for a golden duck in the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Batting at No. 5, Maxwell faced R Sai Kishore and attempted a reverse sweep, only to miss the ball and be trapped in front of the wicket. 

This duck marked Maxwell's 19th in the IPL, extending his lead for the most ducks in the tournament's history. In 135 IPL matches, Maxwell now holds the unwanted record, surpassing Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik, who each have 18 ducks. Despite his early departure, the team recovered through a crucial partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Marcus Stoinis, who added 57 runs for the fifth wicket. Iyer was the star performer for Punjab Kings, playing a match-winning knock of 97 not out from 42 balls. The Mumbai-based batter, who was signed for a massive Rs 26.75 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, smashed five fours and nine sixes, leading his team to a total of 243/5. This career-best performance from Iyer proved to be more than enough as Punjab Kings clinched the win.
