Quaid’s historic photos on display at exhibit

An exhibition showcasing old photographs depicting the historic Pakistan movement opened at the Punjab Council of the Arts to mark the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan. More than 100 photographs have been displayed at the exhibition titled ‘Umeed ka Safar’. These included pictures illustrating the political struggle of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Mohammad Iqbal and several other leaders. Photographs of the freedom movement, the Muslim League and the life of the Quaid from 1857 to 1947 have also been showcased. In some pictures, the Quaid is shown with Mohandas Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and British officials. Other photographs show political leaders during rallies and public meetings. The exhibition was inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner Qandeel Fatima Memon along with Waqar Ahmed. Dozens of people from different walks of life visited the exhibition. Speaking on the occasion, Qandeel Fatima Memon said “Pakistan was the interpretation of the dreams of the Muslims of the subcontinent. The photo exhibition shows the sacrifices our forefathers rendered for the creation of Pakistan. Our young generation is very diligent and worthy. They have to protect Pakistan on ideological grounds”. “Today we are breathing in a free atmosphere because of Quaid-i-Azam,” she added. Director Arts Council Waqar Ahmad said the purpose of the exhibition was to highlight the sacrifices of our ancestors for Pakistan. We will have to follow Quaid’s guidelines for the progress of Pakistan. After gaining independence from British imperialism, the Quaid spent his life in making Pakistan a developed country, settling issues such as resettlement of refugees, distribution of assets, water problems and defence,` he added.
